There do seem to be an inordinate number of insults against male cyclists in general that question their sexuality ... I can imagine that some people morons might associate skin-tight lycra with homosexuality, but at the time of the insult against me, I was riding my mountain bike, I was a little muddy and I was wearing a long-sleeve, baggy DH top and knee-length DH camo shorts, so I was totally down with the cool kids, man.
