My bike is ill,
My bike is ill,
Its shifters have gone for a burton
"No more seven speed", said the man in the shop
"It's time for your bike's final curtain".
"Hold fast!", quoth I, "Young man, do not lie
For although my bank balance is red,
My obsession with bikes means I buy what a like,
So 8-speed the lot, tis not dead".

A piece of glass, maybe
all I heard was phsssss, poor me!
Took the train home, walked a bit
feeling slow, a real misfit
got spanner, inner tube
will I also lube?
All is well, wheel is out
tube is in, no messing about
pump it up, ready to go
no can do, pump won't blow
work in the morning, what to do?
share the bus with all of you?
The breaks are iffy, the gears won't go
But in the morn' N+1 will steal the show!

Frankly my friends I couldn't give a damn
To all the Rival-s, I shift SRAM!
For I've never known the clicking of a Campagnolo
And second best to me is the worldly Shimano.

But my credit card refuses at this moment to be wed
To the upgrade for my Ribble that they all call the RED
But I'm thinking again, I may turn about face..?
And invest rather soon in the stunning Dura-Ace.

But I've just bought wheels from the best at Planet X.
At 60kph they're better than...a few things I could mention
And brought to my attention I'd continue in my spate
Maybe buy a Dogma frame from the boys at DH Gate.

But one thing's always, I'm forever buying more
And I don't mean tubes, cassettes or tyres or chains
Energy gels or hydrating tabs, I don't mean to be a bore
The wife has hid my mastercard so I can't buy bits anymore.
