Hello every one the above picture is my bike that I have recently bought 2nd hand, I really can't find out much about it even tho I have tried looking for it on google. I am new to cycling and wanted to get a nice road bike that was easy to ride, this bike rides really well altho I'm not sure if it is classed as a road bike. I paid £120 it three days ago, it seems to be worth it but I would like to find out a bit more about this bike. Anyone with knowledge can help me out about this bike please. Many thanks.

It's a 13 which was a Halfords 'own brand' bike.

Hello, It's a mountain bike. Wheels look at least 27.5 in size, maybe 29? It will be a perfectly capable bike with a relaxed position for short rides on the road. It will of course be better suited to off road. As a beginner, I would leave the off-road stuff until the current pressure on hospitals eases!

One thing, this bike is way after my area of expertise (such as it is!) in mountain bikes. The forks don't have as much of the shiney metal bit showing as I would expect? Could be if they are air sprung, they need pumping up?

What does anyone else think?

Thats great reply, thank you. I am only going to ride on road so maybe I should be looking for a different bike? I paid £120 for this bike is that worth it, should I consider selling it to get a road bike, if so what should I look at getting for a beginner? I'm about 5ft 11 and just under 100 kilos.

I'd have said it was a Hybrid, you may be onto something with the fork though, easy way to tell is if the fork has a cap on the top which unscrews to reveal a Schrader valve possibly only on one side.be very careful if it does as these require a special pump to adjust correctly.

So judging by the second pic there's nothing wrong with the OP's forks. They are probably polymer or coil spring anyway.

To the OP: welcome. It looks a decent bike for pootling around local lanes and byways. Get rid of that horrible rear mudguard until the Autumn when you'll need it again . Be sure to get the saddle height right or it will be hard work to ride. It isn't a road bike so will be heavy work on tarmac especially with the upright riding position. But you paid a good price for it.

Good advice above on what it is.
If it were mine I’d invest in some slick ish tyres, reflectors and a bell and get out on it.

Tyres like Kenda Kwest or Schwalbe Cityjey won’t break the bank and are readily available on ebay

As I said guys I know nothing about bikes and I be at intend to ride off road. I'm currently just taking a break I've cycled 10 miles so far so maybe it's best I get a road bike. I'm happy to sell this bike and get a road bike, what do you guys think?

A hybrid. You live and learn. It looks a lot more capable off-road than my retro mountain bikes! My large travel forks are 60mm max!
