I have not been a full supporter of helmet cameras, well that was until I got knocked off my bike by a motorist.

Why have I changed my mind? Well the whole legal process is stressful, the motorist is not honest to own up and blames me and I don't want to have to go through this whole process again!! Well saying that it still has not finished and the British Cycling solicitors have told me I might end up going to court over it.

I was going round a mini roundabout turning right. No car at junction to my right. Safe to cross roundabout. Next thing I know as I reach the end on the white painted island a car passes in front of me. He is going around island the wrong way and is on the wrong side of the road. In effect he has cut the island like may road users do. Anyway I had no were to go and could not stop and hit side of his car.

He gets out of car and admits liability (but takes it back later). All he is concerned about is him getting to work because he is late, no concern for me or my injury. (I went to A&E later).

Also contacted police later and now say (as there are no witnesses) there is not enough evidence to prosecute.

We at the moment I am blaming him and he is blaming me.



So a video camera could possibly have stopped all of this hassle. At least I would have had him on video admitting liability for the collision.

So I have only had the contour roam a couple of weeks and the video is of a driver on my second day of use of the camera. I also have two more videos to upload soon.

Let me know what you think. And PLEASE be GENTLE as I know what sort of analysis can happen on cycle chat.

I think the problem you have had with the driver denying what happened is one of the main reasons many cyclists, motorcyclists and other road users have cameras recording their journey .

My mother was involved in a car v car collison a few months ago. It was minor but took my mum's car wing mirror off.

The woman accepted liability at the scene but now the insurance companies cannot get a response from her. It is a clear cut case that she was at fault but just wont accept liability, even though the diagram and explanation that my mum gave was clear.
It is not looking good for the other driver if she refuses to accept liability.
