Using Memory Map my daily commute is

12.5 miles each way
Total Ascent 321ft
Total Descent 616ft
(Ascent & descent reversed for route home)

So nice and easy on the way to work... climbing all the way home.

According to bikely my current route to work is a short 4 miles with 331ft of climbing and 144ft of descent . (6.4km,, 100m, 44m)

Just had a look at my shortest route its only 3.2 miles with 344ft of climbing and 102 ft of descent. (5.15km, 105m, 31m)

Whichever way I go I face an uphill but its easier on the way home but I quite often go a longer route so I'm hopefully desending safer.

Good thread, I was wondering about who's got the flattest or hilliest route.

9.5 miles each way
Total Ascent: 704 ft
Total Descent: 875 ft
(ascent and descent reversed for route home)

climb back up to ~130m (in about another mile)
descend to ~60m

Home to Work

7.5 Miles
Descent 285ft
Ascent 69ft

The descent is in the first 1.5 miles then pretty flat for the next 6, but the last 1.5 miles on the way home is all up hill.....gets the ticker going some.....

Home to work about 6 and a quarter miles, up just under 300 feet, down a bit less than 400. Slightly longer on the way home - around 7 miles - with ascent / descent reversed.

The up on the way to work is all within about 1 mile of home, then it's downhill all the way. Bit of a chore on the way home though ..

You guys do far more climbing that I do on my relatively flat commute - 1 way. 17.5 miles 766 feet ascent and 765 feet descent. Remarkable that my street and Linlithgow are the same elevation. Probably accounts for the lack of locks on the Falkirk to Edinburgh canal.

The wrong side of a big hill !!!!

Indeed!! I live in Watford and commute into NW London, going through Bushey. In a car it doesn't seem that big a hill (on a bike you know about it). It's not until your at the top of the hill and look back you can see for miles. It also really annoys me that when I'm coming back through Bushey that cagers think it's OK to overtake me when I'm doing 40(ish). It's a 30 limit so they must be doing 50+ as they fly past!
