At the moment i'm riding my CBR FUSION mountain bike, had it just over a year now and found it to be a very comfortable and worthy bike on the rough stuff,i've done a few upgrades since owning it which has made a difference.

Next up is an oldie,a 1948 Lambert racing bike,i dont know if many know about these but i've since found out the front forks were commonly found to be called the forks of death due to their untimely habit of snapping, thankfully the forks on this one have been replaced.its a huge frame,i'm 6'3 and even with the leather seat down to the minimum can just about touch the ground.A friend passed it on to me when i mentioned i wanted to try road cycling and must say it flies effortlessly. Anyway my new bike arrives Monday so going to flog this one on ebay as i have no room to keeep it anymore.

The Lambert frame is a true gate! Is it 25-1/2inch?

That Lambert's fascinating. Would you mind posting some more pictures? Close ups of the lugs would be great. It'd be worth posting pictures on the Lambert / Viscount bikes thread on the CTC forum (http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21010&start=390 ) - you might be able to get an i.d. / model name for your bike, which'll help if you decide to sell...

Your Lambert doesn't have the type of fork with the reputation for breaking - it's a one piece aluminium alloy thing, beautiful to look at. My Viscount Aerospace has the later (stronger!) version:

. Yours does have the very bling gold sleeved handlebars that Lamberts came with though. Lambert was born in the late sixties / early seventies, so there's a good chance your bike was built then rather than back in the '40's.

There are some nice pictures of Lamberts on Classic Rendezvous http://www.classicrendezvous.com/British_isles/Lambert/lambert_bikes.htm . The company made a concerted attempt to build low cost, high spec performance bikes, which resulted in some really lovely and quick machines, let down by poor quality control.

Yes, sorry, the lugs are the metal collars that join the frame tubes together - your CBR mountain bike will just have the tubes welded directly to each other, but on your Lambert there'll be a lug at the junction between each of the frame tubes. The shape of lugs varied between manufacturuers, so it can someitmes help to identify the maker or model of a frame.

Does anyone have any idea of current value,it does need a full restoration to bring it back to its former glory, everything works as it should though and it just looks like it needs a thorough service and major clean up.
Hoping to get it on ebay today as i just dont have the space for it after tomorrow. All opinions greatfully recieved.
