I must admit i have tried to wean him onto rammstein but it does not seem to have worked

My one has just got round to shouting. DU HAST

I've never really tried to influence my kids choice of music, they can do like I did and find their own way. I listen to such a wide range of music that I think it's good they experience bilge to appreciate decent music more - both of them play instruments; elder Marmionette plays the oboe and younger Marmionette plays the violin.

But it does make me chuckle when my 12 year old knows the words of early ACDC stuff just as well as she does 1D or Ollie Murs. And gets shirty with her pals when they claim to have never heard of ACDC...and goes off on a rant about the Youngs and Bon being born in Scotland and lists the songs and sings lyrics to them; and when there is still no recognition states "Oh I give up!" LOL

It was like when Ben 10 wasn't cool anymore. The posters, the toys, the games, the bed sheets, all gone....

Don't worry... Next it will be the boys at school....^_^

I can not remember the music likes of my parents, I can remember dad listening to Luxembourg, I have (i like to think ) influenced the musical taste's of my 2, my son does like a bit of dance music but it was hughly popular in is teenage years,, on long car journeys they were force fed Blues, Soul, Folk , Rock, looking at the music on his phone there is a lot of what I played to them.

My two and a half year old is currently loving grand master flash but is also partial to a bit of radio 3.

There is a lot of dance music on in our house as the wife and me danced away our twenties as ravers. But she loves about anything with a good dance beat. The 9 year old would rather watch minecraft videos or build his world's in minecraft.

My father was an organist who played and taught Church Organ
When had lots of classical music, and Rogers and Hammerstien, along with Simon and Garfunkel etc.

What we learned though was that experimentation was important, and that music could change with the interpretation.

I can remember sitting in a Church one afternoon listening to him play or the sheer joy of it. I think my favourite was the sheer physical drama and effect of the Dam Busters theme on the organ

We were introduced to things, but never influenced in any way, which is probably why my collection is so eclectic and diverse.

My iron rule of the car stereo (the only time me and the girls listen to lots of music, at least together) means that the girls (12 and 9) like some of my music - like Prodigy and Bowling for Soup - but it hasn't completely prevented them liking things like One Direction.
