my 13 years and 300 days old daughter has finally decided that after 4 years and numerous concerts ,books ,cd's etc etc she has outgrown boy band JLS so down have come the posters and out has gone the Duvet cover , the poster has been replaced by an Ed Sheeran one and the duvet has been replaced by a nice girly one .

I am sure there are more changes to come
In a word, vodka.

Mine is 13 and 100 days, I want to know when the cuddly toys go? They take up 50% of her bedroom space.

Pretty soon.

My daughter spontaneously decided that all of hers had to go. Her five foot long tiger nearly caused a fight between customers wanting to buy it at the local charity shop when my wife took it in.

Making her bed was a nightmare at the peak of her cuddly toy phase. A toy for every place, a place for every toy and god help us if we got the placings wrong.....

Approaching perfection from a distance.
Got the opposite problem.

As I'm sitting in front of the telly on a Friday night. watching some rock god from my childhood performing on BBC 4, my 13 year old will poke his head around the corner and say something like: " Well - they'd never make it past the auditions on The X-Factor! "

How do you explain it to them in less than 100 words?, before they get bored and start watching a You Tube vid about some bloke who's growing water cress in his nostrils instead!

My just-turned-14 girl has replaced her boy band posters with a huge map of the world and has been reading Ellen MacArthurs books. Either she's developed a crush on that weird Geography teacher I met at the Parents Evening with the Yacht club tie and blazer outfit or she's inherited my adventurous tendencies.. I'm hoping it's the latter because the former has a look of the young Rolf Harris about him.

Just had a phonecall from my elder daughter to tell me that I should have been at the party she was at last night as AC/DC were played quite a bit, that she was in the pub legally for the first time (which was a pub I used to drink in when I was at Uni), that she had put on her first football coupon, and that Newcastle had let her down by letting the other team score in injury time.

I'm taking her to Edinburgh next week and dropping her off at Uni.
