Beauty however, is in the eye of the beholder and most of us have an affection for the fashions of our youth. I doubt if most sub middle aged cyclists look at old steel frames with anything more than curiosity.

That's fine by me, it keeps the demand for steel bikes down, and means sensible used prices. The youngsters can buy their ugly carbon bikes, and I'll keep riding nice looking steel ones.

You could also say it's a good job flares and tank tops are out of fashion because it means you can get them cheap on ebay

Well if you actually like tank tops and flares it's obviously better the cheaper you can get them. Same goes for steel bikes. Being unfashionable has it's benefits!

Correct. Just squeezed 25mm on my Ribble 653, and my Columbus SLX bike.
