Anyway @nickyboy you didn't hit the car, so you must have been travelling at a safe enough speed.

You gave a 'what if' scenario, and got the correct answers in response.

I often come to a comfortable stop vs an oncoming vehicle and think 'ooh, what if' then pause to change it to 'I anticipated the distance correctly, and had sufficient time to stop in a controlled manner without being involved in an accident. I think this means what I am doing works...' then try no to get complacent. I think it might not be helped by the look on the other car drivers face often being 'I'm glad they could stop quickly...'.
