Heres my favourite Cof G funnily enough another Irish band, with Ironically one of the few, if not only famous Irish person with even a hint of colour in his cheeks! Other than the type of colour you get from cycling up steep hills!
;)

I also really like a lot of the pogues and find Shane McGowan one of the more interesting people born from the punk era, along with Ian Durey rip.

May British and Irish rock once again one day become what it can be! and do away with the homogenised bollocks that is the X factor and re-embrace individuality and inventiveness that we have lost to the likes of cold play and Snow patrol .

Not surprisingly Dust Bowl Refugee by Woody Guthrie

Or All you Fascists, Woody Guthrie , now there was a man, He was a huge influence on Sprinbsteen, He brought with his song writing the idea of a dsong being a complete story.

I also love I ain't got no body.

Tis true, i know what you mean, it's not my only favourite song, there are just lots of things I think are perfect about it, the story line the near perfect guitar rift the drumming is good and solid but doesn't take over the song but just compliments it. Lynots gravelly vocals add resonance and sincerity.

Nice one djtheglove!

Must have taken a bit of guts to do a song like that! Noone wonder he topped himself by drinking!

I think Shane MacGowan just managed to survive and is just drinking away as an old soak now. Fair enough?!"

He has survived, and he may well be an old soak as well? and he does a Christmas gig every year at the Brixton academy, I wanted to go this year but just couldn't make it so am hoping he is pickled enough to make it for next years one!

Haven't seen a written song in a while on here, so here's one of my old favourites. Which given the activities in Gaza of late, is quite apt in parts:-

Blood on the Rooftops

Dark and grey, an English film, the Wednesday Play
We always watch the Queen on Christmas Day
Won't you stay?

Through your eyes see shipwrecked sailors you're still dry
The outlook's fine though Wales might have some rain
Saved again.

Let's skip the news boy (I'll make some tea)
The Arabs and the Jews boy (too much for me)
They get me confused boy (puts me off to sleep)
And the thing I hate - Oh Lord!
Is staying up late, to watch some debate, on some nation's fate.

Hypnotised by Batman, Tarzan, still surprised!
You've won the West in time to be our guest
Name your prize!

Drop of wine, a glass of beer dear what's the time?
The grime on the Tyne is mine all mine all mine
Five past nine.

Blood on the rooftops - Venice in the Spring
Streets of San Francisco - a word from Peking
The trouble was started - by a young Errol Flynn
Better in my day - Oh Lord!
For when we got bored, we'd have a world war, happy but poor

So let's skip the news boy (I'll go make that tea)
Blood on the rooftops (too much for me)
When old Mother Goose stops - they're out for 23
Then the rain at Lords stopped play
Seems Helen of Troy has found a new face again
