As per my previous post (so please bear with me)........I'm 68 this year so planning on a 68 miler.
Having recently got back into cycling it's been steady progess.
Last week I did 46 on my hard tail so nearly there............I decided to go for it on the road bike yesterday.
The ride was around Cheshire. For those that know the area it was Warrington>Culcheth>Glazebrook>Dunham Massey>Pickmere.......then back via Antrobus & Appleton Thorn.
By the 'ell it was windy.
And who told me Cheshire was flat
The outward journey to Pickmere was 35 miles and ALL against the wind. I wasn't feeling too bad but hungry and the back of my knees were tightening up.
There was a tea shop at Pickmere and I duly indulged in a mug of tea and a Scone with jam & cream........double yum.
Plenty of stretches and I set off on the home run...........that was hard work**........back of knees and my poor old bum were feeling it.
Plenty of stretches when I got home plus a few cans of Speckled Hen did the trick. Feeling OK this morning.
** I can only assume the strong head-wind was what made it so much harder. But I would recommend the ride and will do it again soon.
