So I set off at 8.30am this morning and after a few basic checks my boss and I rode a couple of miles from the office to the starting point.
I took with me a pack of energy sweets and 2 of the most disgusting energy bars available in the shops.
So any way, I think 55 miles is my comfort zone limit as the last 5 hurt like F*CK!
But I did it in 3 hours 41 minutes with 3 rest stops of around 4-5 minutes each and a section of around 200meters at the a rare breeds park where we all had to push. My Average was 15.5mph for the whole route which I am not sure whether its good or not.
But I did scalp a fair few riders (lost count at 45 ish, not counting children and ppl I classed as POB's) including some very fancy looking roadies and was only overtaken by my two colleages and a guy on a carbon Bianchi in the first mile.
I am sure there are those out there that complete these sorts of things a hell of a lot quicker but I am happy as its my first event and I still have a fair way to go with weight/fitness levels.
