My First Clippless Moment

Sorry, not the usual "!st time in clips, couldn't get my foot out etc" type moment....

I'm a driving instructor, and was with a pupil, who was taking a long time to get out of a junction today, heard a bit of noise at the back of the car, first thought was "oh no not again" as the car has been rear ended (lightly) twice in the past few months by drivers looking at the gap, not at the obstruction in front of them(!)

Look over my shoulder, and there was a cyclist looking a bit woobly!

I open the window and get ...." sorry mate, couldnt get my foot out of the clip!"

All ok, went off, quiet smile to mrself...

I nearly rear-ended a van when I was clipped in!

Middle lane of traffic, checking over my shoulder ready to change lanes & before I knew it I was right on him. Managed to swerve & miss but only just.

It's a miracle there aren't accidents there as it's an awful jucntion too!

I was out cycling in the snow this morning, but even I didn't have any accidents - first time I have gone clipless in ages too.

I've been on the fixed with clips and straps since the middle of November, tomorrow I'm riding Mike's Warwickshire 100 and will be on clipless and gears for the event, I sense the potential for embarrassing myself if I don't take care.

I once came to a roundabout and couldn't get my feet out of the pedals and as if in slow motion fell sidewards on the floor. Getting up I saw that there were two young ladies across the road helpless with laughter.
