The snow and ice has really been getting in the way of a bike ride so I thought I'd splash out on a first rate top of the range mountain bike. No expense spared in terms of spec, high end components all the way.

And here it is a 1987 (I think) Specialized Rockhopper.

Needs a good scrub a bit of oil and a tweak here and there, but it all works, been out in the snow in it this morning and it's great fun - £40 well spent!

This new fangled mountain biking might just catch on!!

Ah! Memories! My first proper MTB was a 1989 Rockhopper Sport in green.

Nice ride! Dug my Scott MTB circa. 2000 out for this week to push through the snow. Positively a youngster in comparison.

Good luck staying upright, I didn't yesterday. Doh

Nice. I bought my mtb/commuter (a Carrera summat or other) for £40 about 5 yrs ago. It's been fab! Have put new chain/rear block/pedals/wheel/rack on it. Apart from that it's the same bike!

Try as I might, but I can't seem to see a rear brake . . .
