It had to happen at some point, and it happened this morning. Rode over some broken glass. Thankfully it was round the corner from my house so I just pushed it back. I repaired it, but obviously not very well, because as soon as I pumped it up it went down again. Had to write it off at that point and catch the bus. Will have proper look at it tonight.

Sorry, I just had to have a moan.

I prefer using a fresh tube and will repair the damaged tube at leisure when Eastenders is on.

I take it you checked the tyre for glass, flint etc as it is a good time to extract foreign bodies from the rubber.

Yeah, I might pick up a couple of tubes today. And start taking one with me, along with a pump. Learning my lesson! I gave a cursory check of the tyre, but I'll have a more detailed look later.

Best way to learn. Carry spare tubes and use them in case of pun**ures. Always check tyres thoroughly for the offending item before fitting new tube. Fix old tube at leisure

and beware pinching the tube between rim and wire, especially when it's dark, raining and sir is knackered

Yes a great idea. They do double the weight of a light MTB however  I know as I have a set for my cube and the two tyres weigh as much as the bike frame

I have the marathon plus and yes they do unfortunately weigh a wee bit but because I mainly commute they are ideal.

I hate how hard it is to get them on the wheel though
