Did my first sportive today! The wiggle new forest spring 57 miles.

Was wet and windy and even snowed just north of ringwood! The headwind was grinding on the last 10 miles

Anyway, was dead chuffed to finish just inside the silver finishing time (by about 20 seconds!)

That was my first sportive as well, I found the head wind going towards Stoney Cross a drag, and that last section nearly finished me off. I was seven minutes off silver, so next time I'll spend less time at the fuel station, and overtake more!!

Drat I just realised I said next time.

Well done !
I am waiting till pay day to sign up for the Midland Monster again, 73 miles for the standard route heading up into the hills around Ashbourne.
Did it last year and my bottom bracket gave up the ghost so i was unable to get a good portion of the gears for the last 15-20 miles.

congrats! i've signed up for two this year, road circuits just.
a 60miler in june and 81 miler in august, probably more fun runs though, don't think there are silver times etc

Ooo how do I do that?

What time do you needy qualify within silver?

I needed < 3hr 45m and by my computer i had 3hr 44m and 30 seconds! I can't get my official time yet.

I was brutal windy! I stopped at the main station for 5 mins and twice to stretch out my back out for a couple. Total stopped time was 9 mins. I had a bad lactic burn for the last 10 miles which is the first time I've experienced that! That 25% hill at 28 was a total killer but I made it up. Just.

I had the joys of a clipless moment on the hill after the fuel stop, on hitting the ground the darn pedal released, so I sprang up and noticed the photographer at the top of the hill!

Well done guys..... it seems that it wasn't too nice out there.

I did the New Forest Sportive two years ago and I made the mistake to enter for the 86 miler when I wasn't ready for it. I did finish but too far from gold

Anyway, congratulations to you guys.
