My mate Elena, who is a stand up comedian was on the One Show last night, dispelling myths about Romanians.

She was very funny.

I saw that and thought it was a good attempt to give some PR to the Romanians who are not, apparently, looking for a freebie.

I have a customer in South Africa who is Romanian and apart from swearing so much she embarrasses even me, she's damned good at her job, asks very good questions and works harder than I've ever seen anybody work.

Not much sand in the UK for Romanians to build their sand horses or castles with like in Spain.

Romanians have a great sense of humour... can't remember the show, but the title translates as in my chickens, is a big show there. it seems to involve taking the mick out of themselves a lot.

I had a vague memory of that, but checked and think it might have been Norman Wisdom or Arthur Askey both of whom were highly rated in Albania?

We had a Romanian girl working with us and she was brilliant, and very funny

After a few weeks she went on leave and she and her husband drove back bringing a lot of their stuff

When she came in she asked why we took photographs of cars in the UK

Digging deeper it sounded like a speed camera, ad explained this to her.

After a few minutes she looked at me with a very serious face and said " Oh - they took a lot of pictures of us!"

We than had a serious discussion about speeding in the UK, which I must admit was taken seriously

Whilst 'freelancing' I worked a coupla seasons at Winter Wonderland and my colleagues were Romanian. I know all the Romanian words related to sliding down a big slide and all the words to describe women of varying degrees of attractiveness. I just don't know how to spell them. The only thing that bugged me about me workmates was they supported Man U or Chelsea.
