My Grandparents' Tandem and Sidecar

We own a Tandem, and had a trailer for the kids. But I never knew my Grandparents did, and have just acquired some photos.

Here you have

- Tandem and Sidecar
- my mum or one of her siblings
- offroad touring in mid Wales (!!)

Photos are late 30s or early 40s.

Wonder if it had a flexible coupling to allow the tandem to lean to the left going round left hand corners? Must've been scary if it was rigid when turning left!

Lovely photos, thanks for sharing. I love to see things like that.

I'd love to have a go at building something like that but I don't have a wife or children so it'd be a little surplus to requirements!

There's an amazing thread on here about a rocket sidecar if you like building things.

I suspect, but don't know, that this sidecar was home made. My Grandad was a fitter in the South Wales mines, so probably had skills and access to workshops if needed.
