I was merging into Bayswater road from the right, wanting to move into the left hand lane. A lot of cars in Bayswater road simultaneously want to move to the right. http://goo.gl/maps/x6G23 If it's not timed right or a car you are following hesitates, then you are stuck in the middle of the road with cars whizzing on both sides until the lights block the traffic and you can move across. No biggy, but in the dark and rain, not pleasant.

The other day, when I was in this position, a car to my left stopped. I looked at him, looked at the other traffic, looked back at him, realised that he was giving way to me and took advantage, giving him a big friendly wave. He delayed his journey by 10 seconds or more. A generous gesture, as he was propped in the middle of a busy road in a dark vehicle in the rain. I continued my move left, he moved right and passed me. It was a MPV, black and as it passed I saw the back window.

"Addison Lee"!!! After a few seconds, I realised my mouth was open, and shut it. No lesson, but it was still nice to see after so many close passes and near left hooks.

That's a horrible junction. I no longer ride it, as the days have got shorter. It's the only place i ever walk over the pedestrian crossing.

I find addison lee ok, it's the normal black cabs that are the real bstds. Knights of the road indeed!!!!
