Well this is my first ever attempt at building my own bike and I've rather enjoyed it! I've used fairly cheap groupset to start with as I didn't want to spaff a load of cash on my first ever build. thought I'd start gently  Anyway the spec list is below:

Handsome Dog frame xc-01
Alivio 9 speed Groupset
Wellgo Flat pedals
Rock Shox Tora SL302 forks
Ritchey Logic V2 Headse
Spank Tweet Tweet Steerer Spacers
Shimano MT15 Wheel set
Michelin Country Mud Tyres
Airwave innner tubes
FSA OS 150 MTB Road Handlebar Stem 100mm
FSA XC 282 MTB Riser Handlebars
Ritchey Pro True Grip TG6 MTB Handlebar Grips
FSA SL 250 Alloy Seatpost 27.2 x 350mm
Ritchey Star Nut & Top Cap
Shimano Deore Disc Rotar RT53 203mm
Shimano Deore Disc Rotar RT53 203mm
Shimano Mount Adaptor Rear Post to IS 203mm
Shimano Mount Adaptor Front Post to IS 203mm
Shimano Deore Disc Brakes M486
One23 Light Weight XC Bolted Seat Clamp White 31.8
Bontrager SSR Saddle

And here is what I managed to create with all those bits:

Wow, a deafening silence. I didn't think it was a bad attempt for my first build.

That's a lot of stopping power, you must be expecting to go down some steep hills.

People seem to get more excited about road bikes and vintage machines on this forum.

Not sure about the white bars and stem  but otherwise looks good.

Nice! Good component choice for a first and mid level build, I would add. There is nothing like building / rebuilding your own from custom selection of components to get to learn some nitty gritty either.

Nice looking bike, that back disc is MASSIVE!!! Seems the photo forum gets a lot less hits then others....

It is big, but then again so am I. 6'2" and 17 stone. So I thought better safe than sorry and got some 203mm so might be able to stop my fat ass half way down a hill if I needed too  Your also right that I am a massive Orbital fan

It looks fab - sorry about the silence. Perhaps you've left people speechless. What does it ride like?

Rockymountain

I've got to take it out for it's first shakedown over the weekend. I've only rode it round the close out side my house so far. It seemed quite smooth and very quick reacting, just like my Boardman comp. I was very happy with that . Just hope it's as good over the rough stuff.

Your spot on there. I've learnt loads while building the bike. I've got to say thought it's not the most cost effective way of getting a bike. You just can't buy the individual parts for anywhere near the price the big manufactures can with the economise of scale they can bring to bare on the manufactures. I think that's largely cancelled out by having a completely unique bike though.

Me too, since 93'. If I had to name my favourite band/group etc ever it would be tough, being a massive music head of all genres, but Phil and Paul would be top. No question.

We've probably bumped shoulders at Brixton academy............... or a field somewhere
