My last cycle commute today...

....on my 5 mile each way route will be tonight on the way home. From Sunday (next day I am working), it will be approximately 11.5 miles each way (it can be 10 miles on busier roads) with a reasonable amount of climbing on the way home!

Hopefully this will offset the turkey/roast potato/cake/beer habit over the festive period!

Oh and from Wednesday I'll have a garage.

I'm a happy camper!

Nice one!

I'll await your post in 'Show us yer garage' with baited breath.

Think you'll manage the 11 mile commute on the same frequency? I moved from a city 7 to a rural (ish) 12 once and found that it did make a difference to me. Raw weather tended not to be as much fun in rural commuting as it hit you full on and the extra few miles did tire me more towards the end of the week.

Don't know. It's not the best time of year to be extending it. However, I'm fairly determined and I tend not to let things beat me, so I'll certainly give it a fair go.
What might help is that the ride into work will be mainly downhill. So that will be an incentive to take the bike to work. Then, on the way back, there is no public transport to speak of, so....

11 miles is an easy peasy transition from 5 miles.. He is the borg & will pish it...
Though he's going to need a bigger memory card

Yeah exactly. Summer was OK, I commonly used to extend my ride home then but winter wore me down more.

Ian's right: You will need a bigger memory card though.

No problems with memory. I can usually store about a week and a half of commutes at the moment. Weekends are fun at my house! :becool:

Actually I'm very happy with my lights at the moment. Hope vision 1 LED and B&M Ixon IQ up front are pretty good for the money.

Goo, yes it will be intersting when icy. I have already worked out an icy and non-icy commute!

Good distance that mags, having done mine now since April(9 miles ew) can't imagine only doing 5 or so.It's long enough to be treated as a mini training ride(way home) but not too long to become boring.
Just need a bike now eh?

Thanks guys.

Here is the elevation on the way home. Not a huge climb, but a few short sharp hills in there. It should be good training for my 190 mile ride in the summer .

(It doesn't include the Clyde Tunnel climb)
