For the last 18 months I've been going to Cyclehouse in Warrington to get bits for my bike & servicing etc.

Had the bike serviced, gears didn't work properly, took it back & was told the rear mech was a bit worn & grip shift worn too. I told them to fix it, was offered a pair of indexed changers the mechanic had in his tool box for £15 & a new rear mech. He didn't charge me for fitting.

I've had other things done too. They're really nice in their, even though I'm female as they know I am aware what they're talking about & know what I want.

Today, I went in to buy a lock as I'd forgotten to bring mine in. They said they'd lend me one to get into the town, rather than buy one.

They don't try to sell me a bike I don't want. Mine is an old Orange Clockwork I had built up in the 1990s with slicks & they love it & keep telling me not to get rid of it.

Isn't that good? They're a great bunch of guys. I bought them all some toffees to share.

The Orange Clockwork is a classic! Keep hold of it...

Call me cycnical, but are you sure you're not getting attentive treatment BECAUSE you're female ?

Whatever the reason, glad you've found a good LBS...worth their weight in gold.
