First up is SS FrankenFreak, a singlespeed made up of donated parts and a crappo frame I bought off eBay after a bottle of wine. I do 80% of my miles on the steed and love it's rough and tumble simplicity:

This is my crap heap MTB, it was once a Raleigh Montana (I think). It currently has it's fifth transmission, following each of the other imploding. The forks have been as soft as year old poo since I went down the side of a big hill in Porlock. It's heavy, slow, the gears are cack etc etc but I still kinda like it.

Finally is Mr Blue Bike, which is my favourite bike. It is an ex-hire bike (from the legendary Ipswich Bicycle Doctor) that has clearly been fallen off a bunch of times but it fits me perfectly and is smooooooth. Well smooth apart from the slight crunch in the transmission, but that crunch is one of the reasons this bike was within my purchasing reach. The chain set is Dura Ace with Ultegra hubs and brifters, so I'm reluctant to spend too much time scratching below the surface because if the Dura Ace kit is shot it will never be replaced. It's only a minor blemish on an otherwise gorgeous bike.

Nice to see a man who understands that a well loved bike is somehow more than the sum of its parts. I got an olde Alpinestars from the mid 90's and its battered and bruised ( though its had an entite NOS new drivetrain this year) but like your Montana its always there faithfully waiting when lesser bikes are broken or defeated by the weather.

Very nice although you either have your trousers in your socks in pic 2 or you should tell your mum/other half that you have grown a bit since you bought them

When they were pouring me into the mold my mum forgot to shout 'when'.
I've not heard that one before, I like it

I've always had the old, "where you born in a greenhouse?", "did you sleep in a grow bag when you were small?", and my all time fave, "what's the weather like up there?"

Oh how I laugh when I hear these comments

I think I might have just made that phrase up!

I think I stopped growing at 13 years old, but was just over 6" so stood out somewhat. Being tall is great in crowds but sucks on public transport.
