For the last month or so I've been driving a BMW. Nothing too flash - a diesel 3 series. It's quite a nice car.

In an attempt to confuse other road users in general and cyclists in particular, for the last few weeks I've been the politest, safest and generally all round nice driver you could ever wish to meet. Has anyone noticed?

It feels so much better knowing I'm not the only one^_^

(Although it's only short term - it's going back next week).
are you mad?
mercs are too sedate unless you have AMG.
same for Audi unless you have the money an RS4 or an RS6
BMW's give me smile every friggin day!!!!

Used to chauffeur them back in '87, a small fleet of 8. It was in my non-cycling days in my mid-twenties
The 740 and 750 were a dream but sh1t in icy conditions.
Would I buy one if I could afford it...no, but that's just preference.

tip from the bmw forums.... when it's icy or snowing. stick a couple of sand bags in the boot of the car. helps traction.
my 230bhp actually behaves itself when the sand is in the back.

It was only ever going to be a temporary car until my new company car arrived. The company I work for has a scheme where I can have anything from a Seat Ibiza to a 5 series or E class, depending on how much I'm prepared to pay (and be taxed!) They'll give me money to drive an Ibiza and charge me quite a lot to drive a 5 series.

The last company car (different employer) was a 2 litre petrol A5, which I loved, but I've decided that I'd quite like to be able to afford to eat and pay the mortgage, as well as drive, so I'm waiting delivery of a rather boring, but very sensible, diesel Golf:smile::sad:

I'll pitch in, I've got a BMW it's a 3 series, a white one and guess what else I've got that's white....that's right a van!!!
Haters gonna hate :boxing:

There's strength in numbers. That's 3 of us so far!

Deep down I always knew that a love of cycling and an appreciation of good cars wasn't mutually exclusive:tongue:

(I had a go (as a passenger) in a new 928S Turbo the other day...that was astonishing^_^)

been there done that. in the end i decided to take the car allowance and buy a £2k ford focus. she was lovely and i drove her every day into London for over 3 years. all that time i saved my car allowance and a couple of years ago i splashed out on the 530d. best car ever and gives me 38mpg IF i stick to 70mpg (drago and vicky look away)
