My New EPS

Well after a lot of waiting and if's, but's and maybe's, I've finally got myself a new bike.

Spec:
Frameset: 2010 Colnago EPS (Colour - AMIT) with Colnago headset, seat post and clamp
Wheels: Pro-Lite Bracciano with Continental GP4000S tyres and titanium skewers
Chainset: Campagnolo Super Record 2010
Mechs: Campagnolo Record Front and Rear 2010
Shifters: Campagnolo Record 2010
Brakes: Campagnolo Centaur
Chain: KMC X11L
Bars: Deda Newton
Stem: Deda Newton
Saddle: Selle Italia Max Flite
Pedals: Shimano M520 I know, I know but I don't race!

Build Cost: £2425 including all the little red bits and a few tools however I am using my existing wheels/tyres, saddle, pedals and brakes. Did get some great buys on the 2010 Record/Super Record parts though and I preferred them to the all black 2011 stuff for this frame.

Next up is a new set of wheels they probably take another 6-8months!

Very nice - am impressed you've got a Colnago for that money. 2010 parts or not...to 90% of us that kind of thing doesn't matter does it. Though I have to comment on the pedals; I'm a novice by years on a bike and after moving from an SPD to Look style Shimano cleat I wouldn't use anything else. They felt more powerful, more solid and just better from the off.

Lovely - one of my fav EPS colour schemes with the Italian flag colours on the forks. Blooming amazing price for a £5k bike !!! Fancy wheels can follow !!!

What size frame is that ?

Gaz, the saddle is level - no problems there. Just a pity I have short legs as the post would look better higher up and not cutting of the painted section but it was that or a smaller frame which would have a shorter head tube so would need spacers under the stem - a look I really don't like.

Fletch - I'll get around to using road shoes and pedals but for now my current Spesh MTB shoes are in great condition so no point in changing - they also have carbon soles so no flex - the benefits of changing to road shoes would be minimal and I prefer walking in MTB shoes at the cafe stops.

Keith - yes and I think my smile will just get bigger the more I use it.

Nice bike K

On my Kinesis (the one I was on the CC Ecosse ride) I use spesh bg mtb sport shoes and A520 pedals. The shoes are plenty stiff enough to be efficient and the cage of the A520's mean there are no comfort issues, plus being vein I reckon the A520's look good on a road bike. I use SPD-SL on another bike and doubt there is much performance difference between the two and the ability to walk in the mtb shoes rather than waddle in the road shoes more than makes up for it.

cheers fossyant, it's one of my fav colours too and I think it will age well. It's a 50s, ideally I would have preferred traditional geo but I'm short in the leg so needed a sloping TT. (strange but i didn't see your post until today

)

HLaB, a couple of others have mentioned A520s and I haven't really considered them for some reason or other. Agree they will look much better than M520s - off to find the cheapest/best place for them as it looks like I won't get out on the bike until the weekend at the earliest - although had a nice wee run today

it's pretty much my dream bike and I feel incredibly lucky I managed to build it for a cost I can just about afford. It did take a lot of research and time searching out the deals and choosing the right parts.
Just managed to pickup a Garmin Edge 500 for £95 plus £32 for a cadence sensor today - Garmin from BestBuy.co.uk via QuidCo and sensor from Handtec.com
