As stated, its a wall mounted 2 kw convector fire with wood effect.
It has suddenly stopped working.
Symptoms......
I switch on. There is a brief flash of colour, maybe 1/2 second, then nothing.
Tried switching off for a few minutes, nothing.
The brief flash of colour tells me its not a fuse.
Any ideas people ?
NB
I can go to the hassle of returning it but wonder if there's a simple solution.

I did but that one died.....this is the replacement which is only 6 weeks old.

And no, nothing works. A brief flash of colour which tells me it's can't be the fuse then absolutely nothing.

What type of switch is it? If it's a mechanical toggle type switch then it's likely to be a loose connection on the switch body. Anyone competent in electrical repair should be able to fix it. It could also be a problem with the control board though.

If it were me I'd get in touch with the retailer and see what they want to do. I'd want the protection of getting it replaced under warranty given it failed so quickly - doesn't inspire confidence.

Yes, it is a toggle switch.
Screwfix was the supplier and they have a good reputation for sorting problems.
Thanks.

At six weeks old just send it back, unless it has no warranty (2nd hand?)

My Aldi fire did start to appear to die, but it was just the LED lights, oh, and the fan was full of dust after 5 or 7 years of use. Dust vacuumed, original lighting binned. A usb powered LED strip now sits inside it. Good as new

Just an update. Tried a new plug etc, no joy.
Phoned Screwfix....they are picking it up and delivering a new one tomorrow.
Its a Ballache as we have fitted the cable through some white plastic ducting which I'd fixed to the wall but I can't fault thier service.

Is there space behind the unit for an extension plug? You could run the cable to that, then if you have any problems in the future it's much more serviceable.

If it is fairly new then never fiddle with it

it just gives the supplier reasons to refuse a replacement
They are normally OK - but there is no point really - the supplier must fix the problem if it is that new
