^_^ ^_^ Yay, its arrived...
Well for all the stick Ribble come in for from some people, they certainly did'nt get it wrong for me..
10 working days is the standard turn round time, plus delivery. 9 days after placement of order, item shipped, 3 working days after shipping, its arrived.
So, various bits chosen, including..
  • ITM Triango carbon bars and stem. They don't over explain anything..i didn't realise they are 'wing' design. I didn't realise the cables are routed 'through ' the bars and exit underneath. Its all kinda cool looking, a bonus. They probably should give some better photos on the website, they're unserstating things.
  • ITM carbon seatpost. I like the white detail.
  • Standard saddle. Might as well try that as anything else. I'm nervous about spending big money on a saddle to find its uncomfortable.
  • Standard Rodi wheelset, my Fulcrums will go on shortly.
  • Veloce groupset in silver. Looks a bit odd with the black wheels, but that'll change with the silver Fulcrums. I like silver...i didnt like my black FSA cranks, they scuffed up something chronic. Not risking that again.
  • Assembled, out of the box.
    Picture001.jpg
  • BB detail, nice and chunky looking...
  • Picture015.jpg
  • One area where you see a bit of a shortcoming, rivetted brackets for the downtube adjusters. Functional i guess, good looking..hardly..
  • Picture010.jpg
  • Detail of the bars, note the cables exiting underneath,
  • Picture006.jpg
  • A closer look at the seattube junction...
  • Picture009.jpg
  • The toptube tapers heavily to the seatube..
  • Picture012.jpg
  • The frame is of course the same as blah blahs..(i can't remember). I was looking on that other manufactureres website to get some detailed photos of the frame, The seat stays on t'other manufacturer are split where the stays join the seattube, the ribbles is solid, as below..
  • Picture002.jpg
  • With veloce groupset..
  • Picture008.jpg
  • Picture007.jpg
Very very happy cyclist here. The only very very slight niggles..
The naked carbon fibre on the back end is understated, it doesnt jump out at you. I'd have liked to have seen it a bit more. Nothing wrong with the bike, just my preferences.
The bosses for cables are rivetted. I'm sure they'll be ok, just ..meh.
That's it !! Its dark now so i'm just sat looking at it....bugger.

Lovely looking bike. I wouldnt be too hasty ditching the Rodi Evo wheels. I got a set for winter use and found them really good , tough smooth running wheels.

Beautiful bike. The red bar tape looks great too.

I've also just had a good experience with Ribble. Not with a whole bike, just their standard mail order service for components, but my order was shipped quickly, well packaged, and their prices are very good. I'll definitely order from them again, and would be confident buying a complete bike from them.

Can I ask how tall you are and what frame size did you get? Looking at either this or the Gran Fondo, but the Gran Fondo is built more for an more upright position (according to BikeRadar review), I'm 6ft 3" and Ribble have a 55cm or a 59cm in this one or a 58cm in the Gran Fondo (I currently ride a 57cm with the same geometry sloping top tube).

Cheers

Certainly can..
I'm 5'10 and went for a 53. My Bianchi with similar geometry was a 52.
It is a conundrum getting the right size, and i havnt ridden mine yet so i'm still not 100% sure yet. I can already see the standover height on the Ribble is higher, no surprise there, it is a slightly bigger frame.
I used ribbles sizing guide and compared all the measurements to my existing bike. Some will be the same, some slightly different..then opted for the size that gave the best match, erring on the bigger size, mainly because my old Bianchi always looked small. It fitted fine, but looked small.
I worked on the principle if i did get it wrong, i could shorten the stem, lower the seatpost etc. Its easier to make a big bike fit a smaller person. Its almost impossible to make a small bike fit a larger person...do you know what i mean ?
I'm confident it will fit, gawld knows, i checked and double checked measurement after measurement.
The guys at Ribble had a simple equation...just match the toptube..it'll fit !!

Beautiful bike! Its almost exactly what Im wanting to build. Dont want to sound cheeky but roughly how much has it set you back?

Also, What are your opinions on the stem/bars and seat post if you dont mind? I've either got the oppotunity to get a new set of shifters or carbon stem/bars and post next month, and I've been looking closely at the ITM triango stuff!

Again, lovely bike!

Circa £1100.
Seatpost n bars etc...i said earlier i didnt realise they were wing bars...actually i know why now, i didnt order wings (or i dont think i did), theyve obviously upgraded them, probably because they were out of stock of the lesser version.
Look wise (bars) , a tiny bit garish, all the squares and carbon effect, but it certainly makes a visual impact. Also, because they're wings, the bar tape doesnt extend up the bars anywhere near as far as normal, it stops possibly 100mm from the stem, possibly limiting your hand position somewhat.
I like the look of the drops too, again, its one of those things that you're taking a leap of faith in, you really dont get enough idea in the picture. I look at the drops on Boardman bikes and simply dont like them, just the amount of drop and general curvature, but these are nice.

Stem, ive just flipped mine...and the logos are not flip'able, so now its upside down. Meh, not the end of the world, but...

Seatpost...just looks plain nice to me.

I havnt ridden it yet, so cant let anyone know how it actually feels.

Further to my reply earlier Judderz...because of the slight extra length of the ribble toptube ecompared to my Bianchi, i opted for a shorter stem. Saddle to bar measurement remains the same on both bikes then.
