Glad your alright Ian, sorry about your bike.

I would demote that one to the pub bike, and go and buy yourself a new commuter.

Retail therapy

Sorry to hear about this.

I get very upset by the use of the word "mate". I almost take it as an insult if used by anyone but a close friend. My reason being that it's a word mostly used without any friendly meeting, usually when people are trying to get their own way in some regard. Australians are exempt due to cultural differences

I know....i'm a caustic sod. Honestly. I'm not having a bad day

Tollers

cockneys should also be exempt  they use the term from birth in the same way you might use dude or chap or chum or pal or whatever. Cockneys are not suggesting that you are necessarily their friend
ie olritemait? (are you ok)

You can't always cycle out of the door zone can you?

Why post this now anyway?...The OP has had a traumatic incident and you come out with this.

I didn't mean to offend or imply fault with the OP or upset him in any way (apologies if this was the case:blush:)Only that although it was the driver at fault more defensive riding must be a good starting point when commuting.

Shame about the Secteur - I am currently saving for the Sport.

Not upset at all, and as I posted earlier, filtering past parked cars is par the course for a London commute. Otherwise you will get nowhere.

Being an experienced commuter, 'dooring' is one of the things I am always aware of and looking out for. It could have been a lot worse then it actually was.
