My noisy seat post....

How can a seat post be so noisy? I dunno but I have to take it out and wipe it clean practically all the time. Its a carbon fibre seat post that inserts into a metal spacer which inserts into the seat tube. I regularly clean all of these inside and out as good as I can. Its just that after a short while the dam thing starts creaking very badly again. Any suggestions for a long term fix? I just take a hex wrench and some wet wipes which is less than ideal.

Are you using Carbon paste when reinserting the post? You need that to grip carbon post to frame and means that it stays put and is easily removed in future.

No I am not. I will invest in some and see how it goes now that you mentioned it.

Usually the advice is to grease moving parts, but DO NOT grease your seat post. Paste will certainly resolve this I am sure.
