My OH's quick solution to a flat tyre

Finds flat tyre. "Attempts" to repair flat ... but so sad - it's unsuccessful
.... "are you coming in with my sandwiches ?" - Oh, I'm having real trouble getting the tyre off/on - I'll be about 10 mins ....

@SatNav : here's exactly how to deal with guys - ime they like you more for being a bit helpless at times*.

I think it's possible (whether man or woman) to be independent and assertive, but also sometimes a little bit in need of a hand with something. After all, no matter how independent I want to be, I struggle to lift something too heavy or awkward, and there's no shame asking for help.

Arch, you are too nice: alas in my case sometimes asking is not enough, you have to give them "the look" before they decide to flex their muscles

If I'm struggling, it's usually fairly comical*, so after they've stopped laughing, they help...

*like trying to drag a 100kg bag of paper off the vehicle onto a trolley, and it not budging an inch.

I asked him last night if he would prefer me to be "a bit helpless at times", pointing out my mother's ability or otherwise which is legendary in our house (think computer is broken because all it does is bleep at her after she put a file down on the desk (this is a more than once occurance)).
The instance response was "Hell no".
OK the mother bit may have biased him but it seems he rather likes knowing that I can put up shelves that are not going to fall down, change my own wheel on the car, and generally am able to do things like that. He has to settle with me not being able to lift things because of an arm injury 20 years ago, but the idea of not being able to strip down my computer (laptop/dekstop) to repair it, not being able to change a wheel on my car or bike, not being able to use a drill etc appauled him. He is able to do all but the strip the laptop down, (I was an IT Engineer until we went off on an RTW tour), so it seems the helpless act is not going to work here regretfully. the forgetful act does however work!
