An odd one for me today: a few slides from a presentation I'm working on about communication. Making a visual presentation out of abstract ideas has been... interesting, and a slow process, but I'm getting there.
Top to bottom:
Aristotle's theory of communication as explained by statues,
The Shannon-Weaver model; yellow German-Romanian dictionary to illustrate "Language" as an example of "noise" causing miscommunication. The joke here is that my friend and partner in this venture is Romanian German,
Charles Windsor giving an example of how "culture" can cause interference. I was going to use the US as an example, but that seemed a bit snarky. Besides, as he's from a German family, I like the irony.
Another "introduction" theory tomorrow, and then I need to focus on the next part of the seminar...

Actually, this is the fourth year I've done a hot Christmas Day lunch picnic, but the hot soup picnic thing is a new one for me, and so easy... rather easier than keeping two courses of a hot lunch with all the trimmings properly hot! Zap it in the microwave, stick it in a flask, and it's good for a couple of hours.
