A menhir (standing stone) that isn’t…

I saw this from a distance for the first time last year and was confused: why hadn’t I seen it before (as I’m often in that area) and what were the Neoliths doing erecting a menhir on a flood plain?

Answer: It’s probably only recently been quarried and shaped – and put in place to adorn someone’s little fishing lake. I guess the alternative is that it really was a menhir and it’s been moved. I was told over 30 years ago that that brings bad luck. Thinking about it, people have probably been saying that for over 4000 years…

Walking through Westminster yesterday I saw a line of tourists queuing for a red phone box.

Apparently they were waiting to take a photo to post instagram of the phone box and Big Ben, showing my age, but I really wouldn’t be bothered to do that.
That's very common - maybe the queue is a little longer than usual, but I've seen it get to that size before. I used to work in the building in the background of your photo (but at the other end) and would always walk past said queue of tourists every lunchtime.
