I've been using a Santini jacket from Prendas [1] for the colder bit of the winter. At the sale price, I reckon it's a bit of a bargain. So far has proven to be warm, showerproof, and pretty windproof too. And it's got a really nice little neck warmer affair built into it as well.

Based upon the link above I looked at Tenn Outdoors and bought one of these http://www.tenn-outdoors.co.uk/sale--soft-shell-waterproofwindproof-cycle-jacket-red-med for £27 with the extra 10% discount. My chest is 41". Medium says 40-42 but I went for Large so glad I did.

Looks like an ideal compromise between lighweight summer rain jacket and my Endura Air Defence which is too hot above about 10 degrees. I suspect this will work from about 5-14 degrees with a base layer. Looks very nice quality, and if you went for black, looks fine off the bike too

Looks like it would shrug off a reasonable shower for a good time. I don;t commute, but looks good for that
