I find this on my commute, there are several times when albeit a seemingly small incline they can't really keep it up. I blame all those hills I've climbed in Kent :biggrin:


Got scalped by a guy in full race kit on a blue bianchi a whileback. He shot right past and I thought I'm not going to catch him on a S/S. Which I didn't on the flat but as we hit a hill I slowly clawed back the distance. Didn't really expect that with my one gear!! :biggrin:

You do need to realise when racing is appropriate and most importantly safe, some riders give it hell for leather and/or ride illegally/dangerously in order to make up for their lack of speed.

Today I scalped a lady wearing a large pink anorak and what appeared to be slippers. Mind you, scalping suggests a quick and positive action - this was more of a metaphorical wash and set as I struggled to catch her, uphill and against the wind.

Damn electric bikes!
