So, following on from a pm from @Moderators (Thank you) it's clear that news and current affairs is not actually banned.

A thread debating the budget is perfectly ok. Except without "politics". However, the budget is, literally and without exaggeration, the most political document there is, in the UK, save perhaps for party manifestos.

So de facto, we find that politics as long as it offers no challenge to the government of the day is actually fine.

This is, whilst doubtless well- intentioned, as political an act as could be imagined.

The pretence that the most nakedly political matters are not is exactly what this government of our desires. Great British Common Sense rules, although more honestly described as English Nationalism and Exceptionalism. Such pretence is anathema to my basic values.

I fully appreciate others take different views. But debating such views is banned.

So, a plea. Either allow political debate or ban it. But allowing only particular political views to be expressed, as I hope I've managed to get across in some way in this post, I really struggle to accept.

I think the jist is the mods don't mind uncontroversial general political discussion so long as it remains good natured. The moment it becomes partisan it inevitably becomes insulting shortly afterwards, and thats what they're seeking to avoid. I think.

It's Shaun's to run as he sees fit and that doesn't seem unreasonable. The usual suspects can take their ridiculous, repetitive bickering over to the Phantom Zone and leave the rest of us to have a moderate chat amongst ourselves over here. Im fine with that.

Well over in NACAland there is NO such discussion taking place about the budget and do not get all in a twist about there being one here so what's the point, as you could have easily started one over there rather than make this silly thread which you know is gonna get wiped out. The mods made a post with prerequisites to meet in order to keep the thread open and discussed on CC. It is there to discuss details of the budget only, if you want to discuss it in more openly with party politics etc go fire up a thread over there and set an example...

He's not starting a budget discussion - he's just pointing out that The Roolz are nonsense made up to create an easy forum life for reactionaries, trolls, and people who can dish it out but can't take it. He's right. He's wasting his time taking it up with The Management, but it doesn't make him any less on the money.

Here we go again, yet another thread being seized upon as an opportunity for some to stick the boot in to those that either used to post in the old NaCA or have now migrated to the new.
It really needs to be got on top of, it is always the same people, always those that cry foul when challenged, always those that say others are intolerant, and, to be quite frank about it, generally those that ended up looking a little silly when they were called out for their posts in P&CA or NaCA, who then slunk back to the cafe to complain about it.

And thus the prophesy becomes reality

Theres more posts on here from members crying about NACA being closed, than there is in the new naca itself…..its closed, get over it and grow up.
That's not true though is it, there's more posts on here from those that were banned or that couldn't stand having their "it's obvious innit" opinions questioned. Let it go, it's moved, stop obsessing over it and those that post there.

Even if that was absolutely bang on, that is what the NACA forum separation was all about. It's a place for everyone with veins popping out of their foreheads whilst smashing their keyboards up at those they disagree with to go and hash out such discussion without disrupting the wider CC forum. A place to take on the reactionaries and trolls if you will. Sadly, we saw many difficult/hard fought topics spill out into the wider forum, often on unrelated benign topics disrupting it for everybody else. There is no doubt in my mind since the split, the forum is a friendly place for everybody...

Yeah, really friendly,

Please see the Budget thread for more examples, or the recently deceased NACA thread for even more examples.
