@name is very hit and miss

Over recent months I've noticed the @name feature has worked less and less. Others in the Retirement Thread are finding the same thing. It appears to be random. Any clues as to what we are doing wrong, is the forum aware of the issue?

I expect to type @na and a range of potential members will appear, the more I type the narrower the range becomes. Once selected the text turns blue and remains so when I post. This works for some members but not for others. In some, but not all, instances typing the full name will result in the name turning blue after posting. Examples below:

@Mo1959 - works
@Dave7 - doesn't work while typing but does after posting
@Moderators - works
@mikelow - doesn't work

I've noticed this too.

Following on from above, if I edit my first post for members who this works for I see:

USER=NNNN - with N being digits which identify the individual user. The text is within [ ]

With users where it doesn't work USER=NNNN is completely missing. Hope this helps

Yes, as I said on the "retired" thread it is happening to me. It's been creeping in over a few weeks but at first I assumed it was me doing something wrong.
The @ works well for certain members but not for others.
If its of any help to 'site support' I "think" that eg it will be certain member names that do not respond for me but a different block of names that don't respond for PaulSB.

The forum software has been playing up for a long time. Funnily enough though, I was looking for some of my posts on an old thread yesterday and it actually found my name for the first time in months!

You aren't doing anything wrong.
The Mods are aware, trying to get our Boss @Shaun the IT wizard to fix it!

Any joy on this yet Pat?
Its getting worse for me.

@Pat "5mph" .. I've been trying to start a new conversation with one of the forum members but the software is telling me that it can't "find" the recipient (and I've checked the validity of their username several times).

Is this part of the same problem referred to above? If so, I'll just the save the draft of the conversation and wait until the problem's fixed.

Thanks, Bob

if you find post from them you can just click on their name and click start conversation, rather then having to "@ find" them from the conversations menu.

Sorry Dave, not yet.
We are still waiting for Shaun to fix it, my apologies.

I was going to suggest what @T4tomo said above, he got there first!
Glad it worked.
