Sure, but think of all the adventures you'll have when she's older: I took my eldest cycle camping last year (just after she turned 4) and we had a family weekend away, cycling from Bristol to Devizes. You don't need to cycle far to get a workout if you're towing kids. I think we did our first trips out with the trailer when our eldest was about 6 months. Head over to the family cycling thread...

I'm already thinking about ways I can get her out on a bike with me.

Gone from "stick her in a backpack, it'll be fine" to "yeah ok those trailer things look a lot safer" quite quickly...

Trailers are great - very stable, weatherproof, and a boot for transporting the ridiculous quantity of baby paraphernalia. Happy to talk about it via PM...

I've got a trailer I bought through fleabay. Used to take granddaughters out but they're too big now.
GF's other son doesn't have kids yet so don't know whether to sell it or save it for him.

I didn't have a bike trailer thingy for Accy junior. Even on cycle paths away from traffic i didn't trust others to think about her safety. Instead i got one of those ruck sack carrying frames. We went for miles mostly up and down hills. I enjoyed the keep fit aspect of lugging a two stone weight, even though she was oblivious to it all. When she got too old and too big for the thing i sometimes went out with a 2 stone weight in the thing, i missed it so much.
When i mention it to her now she seems to think it was some form of child abuse. Honestly, the things you do for them then they just throw it back in your face!

Hmmm - there are names which "generate a wary response" from teachers, born out of long experience?

I know - it is rough on the really pleasant, personable people called Dwayne, Dean, Chelsea, Jade, and a few others. And I apologise profusely to any on the board who bear those names, or who have given their children those names - you're cyclists, so I know you're OK.

[Psssst - have I done enough to dig myself out of that hole? Please tell me I have!]

But Amber is ...... sorry, on my list of names which make me wary. Having said that, it has slipped out of fashion a bit.

You are Katie Hopkins AICMFP

My apologies - I didn't mean it, but could not resist

I know exactly what you mean though there are certain names the despite it being unprofessional, unkind and judgemental you just know are going to be a problem

I knew a colleague whose wife was a teacher in her year she had:

I haven't seen a kid called Tracy in years ... Do they still exist?

^^^^ But only if she resembles an alien life form.
Well................. she is a parasite, feeding off your wifes nutrients for 9 months:tongue::angel:

Congratulations @AndyRM !

Hopefully you don't support Borussia Monchengladbach, but otherwise, we followed two rules: 1) Can you imagine yourself yelling the name across a playground and b) is there an acceptable short version, because that's what her friends will call her?
Didn't John Peel name his children after Liverpool f**tball players??
