Mine have nondescript names on Strava but that is just so that the Strava stalkers  don't know what bike I am riding.
On some rides normally up very steep hills they get spontaneous names like feking bar steward or feking banker.

Do people give their bikes names?

Yes, why on earth not.

Mine are called Bob, Maggie and Brett. My son's bike is called Tom.

My view is that if different bikes have different ride characteristics, and all are in some way more or less personalised from the moment we get them, then each has its own character, so deserves a name.

I've asked but they've not told me their names yet.... have to say it shows a remarkable rudeness on their part.

Were I to tell them their adopted names I doubt they'd be best pleased.

The Dawes should really be Diana... or possibly Freia.

Well people name their pet animals....

My bikes are:
Tiddles, the Brompton
Emily, the Emmille
Ratrike, the recumbent trike based on a KMX
The Creature, the recumbent trike in bits that will be based on a number of unrelated parts

Nothing wrong with it, IMO, as it shows empathy, especially towards things that deserve it more then some people.
Being slightly autistic I can empathise more with animals and machinery then I can humans.
