So why is that a down side? If you dont want your journey recorded you can still pay cash and buy a more expensive ticket.

Anyway, the current London Oyster card does not have to be registered to an individual, mine isnt, I just top it up as and when I need to. OK the journeys are recorded but no one knows who is doing them and I could be lending my card to anyone.
