Just a flag-up if you buy stuff from Amazon...(you may know this)...just bought a book using 1-click (isn't that convenient!). Being anal I clicked to review my order, to find I'd by default been set for first class postage @ £3 or so. Bit of rootling around, I ended up at:

Can I set my 1-Click default settings to Super Saver Delivery?
No, but if the order hasn't entered the dispatch process you can change your delivery preference to Super Saver Delivery. To do this, click on Your Account in the top right-hand corner of the page and open your order from the "View Recent and Open Orders" section.

So. Be warned! use 1-click by all means (it is convenient) but unless you're in a desparate hurry, be sure to 'review' and get your free p&p. (Takes 5 secs...so long as you're aware.)

My bookmark on this computer says

"amazon - it's the devils work"

just as a reminder. One click ordering would be worse.

Witty, bright, sharp and unexpected...As surprising a book as I've read for years. --Brian Eno from Suffolk

This book came with rave reviews - I cannot understand why but I may have missed the point. My wife thought the same - Brian Smith from Surrey

Be interesting to hear what you think Swee'pea.

I didn't know this was Mr Eno's full name. Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno.

It might not be, I looked on Wiki

Ebuyer are even worse. They promise free delivery for GB mainland apart from Scottish Highlands. I live on mainland GB 100 miles south of the Highland Boundary Fault but when I get to the checkout the free delivery isn't available because "I'm too far from the courier's depot."

If they lie about that, what else are they lying about?

They were discussing it on that new Review prog & it sounded good.[/QUOTE]

Ha! That's the very book I was caught out buying! Synchronicity...

I got it for Christmas from my sister and it really is remarkable. The copy I ordered this week was for a friend's birthday - it's one of those books one feels compelled to force onto others.

The websites that really irritate me are the ones where you click to buy something ... and then when you click the "confirm purchase" button ... you have mysteriously been billed for VAT and postage, without being told that the price that you thought you were confirming doesn't include VAT or postage!

I fell foul of that once ... never again!
