After a bit of deliberation I took the plunge and purchased Garmin Edge Explore 2 on Monday just gone, and having only completed a short local ride on Thursday and today my first planned route I'm very happy with it. I concocted a route on their website and downloaded it last night, from Heworth park & ride, over the Blinkin Eye, then up the Coxlodge waggonway as far as Longbenton and back down to the Quayside through Jesmond Dene and Ouseburn. The navigation was excellent, even when I wandered off course (purposely) to explore a bit more it re-routed me back to the planned route pretty quickly, even through the maze of paths in Jesmond Dene. It's nice to have more stats on the info. screen too without having to scroll through like my Bryton Rider 15, and the ride stats are interesting as well. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade and I'll be coming up with some more new routes soon. Thanks for the advice everyone and an excellent recommendation ianrauk.

I'm glad you took the plunge with the Explore 2. It really is a great piece of kit.

A quick tip for you. To save even more battery life, turn down the screen brightness. I set mine to 10% and its fine for even the most sunniest of days to the gloomy ones.
