What HLaB said is right, but we've had enough rain to wash th eroads now.

Oil on the surface will get any tyre sliding, white paint in the wet is designed to 'off' cyclists, apart from that most tyres are OK in the wet with a bit of extra care, but there are exceptions. Sounds as if yours are among the exceptions. Knobblies on wet tarmac tend to slide a lot though.

Don't know those tyres, but are they more road racing in the dry type tyres?

If they are known to not really be suitable in the wet, definitely recommend trying Contentintal 4-seasons. Good puncture protection, too.
