I've ordered two of these, mainly for my bike tour in October.(fitted to handlebars)Used similar last year and did 90+ GB of recording...some of which are on my Utube channel. My recent near collision was filmed on a MUVI.

I find that the imported MUVI's are generally crap, but the four I bought from Maplins are still going.

Not much you can do. I've seen kids locally shove other 'friends' out into the road and cross deliberately in front of cars (because they will stop). - one I saw it happen on a day I was off work, coming home after a training session, a landy overtook me (normally) way before a ped island, but the kids walking on the pavement decided to walk out in front of it - they saw it. Thank god the driver was alert. He had no where to go though !

I had a kid run out in front of me whilst I was travelling down a cycle lane in the middle of summer. The kid was only about 4/5 so I just gave the parents a bit of advice about keeping an eye on the kid.

This wasnt a kid, but an adult should know better:

Wouldn't insurance be a better idea?

Got insurance through CTC but that isn't always the best plan, especially if I did hit somebody and end up in court.

+1
Just a Contour HD for me, and the quality of it is amazing compared to my old ATC (which broke).
I'm looking at a dogcam bullet, or a Contour Roam. Really depends on funds for me, is the contour (which about 40-50 quid more) worth the extra?

100% worth the extra. The ContourROAM has a superior image censor, automated exposure settings (means it works just as well in the night as it does in the day without changing settings), better mounting options and simple on off switch. I have a review of the contourROAM and it's my camera of choice.

I just bought a GoPro Hero HD 2 - the lowlight performance was the winner for me, together with it being almost the same as my other GoPro v 1, and the battery bacpac [sic] which lets me run it for my whole commute both ways.

Not a good example though.

It does look nice - depends on my budget though. Might buy it and worry later about the cost... :P I've seen it online only 30 quid more than the bullet so definitely worth it.

Looks like a brill camera, quite expensive though unfortunately. I've seen some of your videos I think, very high quality stuff from it. Worth the money from the looks of it!

Mum claimed on her fully comp insurance, but was informed by the attending copper that it wasn't unknown for insurance companies to chase up peds to reclaim their losses. It was the 1st time I heard about household insurance covering for 3rd party liability outside the home.
That is why many cyclists on here can rightly claim to have insurance.

In the last 12 months, 2 kids I know, both aged over 11, have ended up in nasty RTA' s due to crossing the road without paying proper attention, and being hit by cars. Thankfully the cars were going slowly enough that the kids have survived with healing injuries, but it has been a horrible experience for all concerned. In neither instance has any blame been attached to the driver at all. The road is one where drivers frequently break the 30mph limit.
