For anyone that knows Sheffield, coming down Ecclesall Road this morning in bus lane. JCB at side of me with cars behind. As we set off from lights he decided to move over into bus lane to allow traffic to pass him. Wouldn't have minded if he had indicated or let me pass first seeming I was going quicker than him anyway. Had to break heavy and filter in behind him then overtake once traffic had cleared a little.

So frustrating!!

I have noticed that when I use bus lanes I am invisible to everyone except bus drivers. The two close calls that I've had with HGVs have both been in bus lanes.

I've only had one incident like this, touch wood I think but it was very similar the HGV 1/2 overtakes me then cuts in to the bus lane, as there was railings on my left I was less than impressed.

Bad luck there, Adam. Glad you are OK.
The city centre end of Ecclesall Road/Hanover Wy...I hate that roundabout, even when I'm driving.

It's a toss-up whether to go down the underpass and hit students who decide they want to walk in the cycle lane, or over the roundabout and risk your own life.

I like JCBs. Sit behind them- whoa! not too close- and you can ride along, sheltering from the wind and dodgy overtakes, or get ahead and have a bit of road to yourself while the traffic queues up behind it.

When they do get past it tho' they go like shoot off a stick for a few hundred yards to make up for it.

Get out of their way if it looks a bit dodgy.Bit like a cop car on blues and two's.

Yeah that's what I did a two days ago on the early morning commute. That lorry must have been twenty feet high.

My club mates once hung on to a JCB driving up the 1 in 4 Winnat's Pass - had to let go when it started bouncing about........

Effortless (nearly) 22/23 mph, and nice warm shelter in the winter - but you do have to listen to the engine note, keep an eagle eye on what's going on up ahead and be prepared to react quickly.

Got tailgated by a JCB a few weeks ago on Hipswell Highway. Frightened the c*** out of me. I could hear him behind me, but when I was approaching the first pinch point and I looked round his bucket was level with my back wheel. I accelerated and got in front of him and when I had gone through both the pinch points I slowed and let him go past, the road starts to climb there and he would have gone past any way, at least by slowing I could get him past and not have to worry about him creeping past as I slowed on the climb.
