Two hours, cursing, assemmbling, dis-assembling and re-assembling a new rack. Must have put on every component at least twice, back-to-front, the wrong way around before getting it 'rightish'. The written instructions were worthless and the diagram of little extra help. :cursing:

Totop it off my new rack-bag was delivered on Saturday when we were out and so is now at the loacal sorting office until tomorrow. I'm sure it will be worth it when I can get that sweaty rucksack off my bag. :sun:

Racks are great. I am a big fan of a nice rack.

Toying with the idea of putting a proper rack on my CX bike, currently use a seatpost one which can move about a bit on rough trails.
Would need a disc specific one though.

Thanks, I have also put this one on my wishlist-

To be fair, I paid more for the rack than if I had bought it online - but I have all my fingers still

Do you need a disc specific one? I got away with a standard rack as the brake caliper is wedged in between the chain and seat stay. Where is the rear brake caliper bolted on your bike?

I got the Topeak Supertourist DX from hellfrauds the other day. It fitted like a complete dream, I don't believe it because, like the OP these things always go against the grain for me. all I had to do was bend the ends of the supports such a tiny amount, it even cleared my brake cable.

Me happy

Can personally reccomend the Super Tourist DX, have one myself together with the MTX trunk bag and they have taken everything I and the UK weather can throw at them and come back like a Glesgae hardman ("Is that the bes' ye' can dae?")

Not where yours is
The stays on the guardshave been bent to fit, so could maybe do the same but for the sake of £2 I'll get the proper one

That Super tourist DX rack is not good engineering - creating a 90 degree cast foot onto which you load a lot of weight. Now that's a good idea ........... And it seems some of you have been trying to bend it or the stay to try to get it to fit better. It will eventually crack and fail due to vibration. The solution is to get a bike without disc brakes or one where the rear brake caliper is mounted forward of the seat stay and above the corresponding non drive chain stay. Or make yourself a stainless steel 3-4mm mounting plate to clear the rear brake caliper. Simples.
