4 Exits, 4 Entries onto a Big Island with Dual Carriageways 40 limit.
As i was going straight over I was past the 1st Exit and saw a car approaching the entry to the Island.
Instead of looking though (I saw him coming and thought he would look and stop as per normal) he just pulls out totally blinkered looking straight ahead.
Luckily it was dry and I brakes heavy from maybe 18mph and the rear end broadsided but luckily I managed to control this and on he went.

There was no traffic (8.15am) and it was another case of Sunday morning drivers.
Either still under the influence from a Saturday night or too arrogant to feel anyone else would be on the road I just can't believe he just didn't either know or acknowledge his mistake.

Surely as he was coming upto the Island he would have been looking Right and seen I had just started on the Island so either he did this and got bogged down in the wrong gear or he was just not looking.

This too a minute after some stupid woman driving so far up my ass trying to pass that I had to instead of moving out to the smooth road go over potholes and holes in the road. It was so bad My Water bottle flew out the holder and she ran over it.

I know what happened here: you lost your bottle ! ;)

We (cyclists) are the no marks on the road.

I'm sure it'll change.

Lucky escape there, by the sounds of it. Were you in primary whilst on the roundabout? Not hugging the outside edge, I hope.

wipe outs

In the last 2wks I have been nearly wiped out 5times.
Last nite I was on the main road minding my own business cycling approx 2ft from the verge when a car passed me within 2ft the driver even had the cheek 2 bang the horn there was nothing coming towards use so he could have given me more space.
Saturday afternoon was out cycling with my 10 year old son, going around S bends car overtook us another car coming towards us so the driver had to cut us up nearly took my son of his bike.
I have had a dithering old man in a jag pull out in front of me at a T junction nearly putting me over his bonnet.
On a country lane I have had cars pass so close I could shake hands with the driver..
Surely there is something that can be done about this appart from some well directed hand movements and signs aimed at the car drivers.

2 foot? It's close, but I get passed at this distance all the time in London. Better road positioning, and a few well timed professional wobbles are a good way to dissuade this sort of thing, but you'll never stop all of the idiots all of the time.

I come up to London regular with one of my children to the hospital,I have seen how close the cars come to cyclists there and it amazes me that I have`nt seen a major accident yet, though I know there are probable many.
I have tried being further out on the road but I have found that the drivers come even closer,,like you say it is impossible to stop idiot drivers I find the yougsters and older drivers to be the worst,Yougsters as they find it funny older drivers as they probable can`t see further than the bonnet,,,( no offence to any older drivers on here )but thats what its like in lovely rural west wales
