Need advice on a new bike

im going to go for the crossfire 2 as it is reduced from 450 to 300

Can't get that one as my work's cycle scheme doesn't cover that one. Would anyone get a hybrid that only has 9 gears. Will post the link when i get home

It looks OK for the price.

As others have said, you really don't need a suspension fork. IMO 8 or 9 gears will be plenty if you're commuting on a route with no massive hills. Not sure what size wheels it has? 700c (i.e. road bike size) are generally considered better than 26" (MTB size) for road use.

The bike my son has bought is this one: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/hoy/shizuoka-001-2014-hybrid-bike-ec051518 The frame on the Hoy is probably better, it has no suspension and hydraulic discs but it isn't massively different to the one you're looking at. He's a new cyclist, commuting a 10 mile round trip on fairly flat London roads and he's getting on well with it.

What retailers can you use and budget? Halfords Carrera Subways are bombproof for under £300 and the Boardman hybrids offer good spec for the cash (but obviously rather more)
