It's nice looking but if not off roading you would be better off without shocks. They absorb too much of your energy.

Hybrid is a non term really It has suspension, so it has more in common with an MTB than a roadbike IMO

Agreed on the non need for suspension if not going off road but I think everyone said this before

On roads however, I'd say the negative effect of the suspension on the road will outweigh the benefit of slicker tyres. How wide are the tyres?

I commuted with a mtb to start with and have now switched to a cyclocross, the difference is unbelievable. Mtb's are so much effort and not all that enjoyable on roads.
