Call them up and say that you have a new computer. When I did that they gave me a new key for free.

Edit: Oh.. that's if you still have the Office disk of course.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
If you work for a large organisation that uses Office, persuade them to talk to MS, who are quite happy to dole out very cheap licences. I think we've paid about a tenner for each of three installations of MS Office Pro over the years.

Alternatively, there's now a subscription model - Office 365. I know nothing about it.

Wot the blue one says!

And the corporate thing is not as good as you might think . Especially on 365

+1 for Libreoffice. I've not had any problems opening any of my MS Office files so far

Personally, I'd go for an Open Source option. I use Apache Open Office which gives you more or less everything that Office does, but legit and FREE! I only started using it a few weeks back - and the joy of being un-beholden to Microsoft is an unexpected pleasure.

Do you just want to open some files then save them in another format?
I'd be happy to do that for you if you want to send me the files (assuming I have the correct version of Word & the converters you need) and I'll send back the converted versions.
